SPORT AND LEISURE CENTER
Suzdal, Russia

Suzdal is the tourist capital of the Vladimir region 200km east of Moscow. The Soviet-era tourist complex is undergoing a general overhaul, a component of which is the planning of a modern sports facility with a water park. The project is one of the largest and most ambitious in the region. The Pearl in the “Golden Ring”, Suzdal is a unique museum city, an ideal place for recreation and tourism – and the sister city of Rothenburg ob der Tauber. The expansion of tourism, which is currently limited to the Old Town, monuments and museums, needs a modern infrastructure, as well as an additional attraction. On this basis, the concept of the sports facility and water parks was developed.

“We commissioned a German company for one reason,” said Sergei Kašenkov, General Director: “We examined the European projects, and the Germans are leading in the building and design planning for such objects.”

Since the project is within sight of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the water park and sports complex are embedded in the earth. The maximum height of the facade is 4.5 meters.

The green roof emerges from the landscape. The indoor swimming pool is designed to accommodate 1000 visitors daily. By design, the completion of the sports hall and water park complex will attract athletes, clubs and tourists to the city of Suzdal. And all in one place: accommodation, catering and entertainment on premises. Everything is within walking distance.
